Richard Rogel, U-M Health System Victors for Michigan Campaign Chair
Rich Rogel, a native of New Jersey, graduated as the valedictorian of his 1970 class at what is now the U-M Stephen M. Ross School of Business. In 1982, he founded Preferred Provider Organization of Michigan (PPOM), which was the first operational preferred provider organization in the country. He was CEO or chairman until it was sold in 1997. He went on to succeed as an investor and is involved with a number of startup companies. He received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Michigan in 2009.
Richard’s notable leadership roles across the University of Michigan include Chair of the UMHS Victors for Michigan Campaign, Vice Chair of the Victors for Michigan Campaign and Chair of Campaign Fundraising for scholarships across the university. He serves on the National Advisory Board of the U-M Frankel Cardiovascular Center and the U-M Comprehensive Cancer Center's Pancreatic Cancer Board of Directors.
He serves on the President's Advisory Group and the Provost’s Advisory Committee. He is also a former
president of the Alumni Association. His many roles have given him unique insight into the state of today's research university.
Richard and his wife, Susan, are generous supporters of U-M, U-M Health System, U-M Medical School, and numerous programs across the university, including the Office of Financial Aid, the Ross School and the Lieberthal-Rogel Center for Chinese Studies in LSA.
