Brian Rooney was born in Philadelphia into the well-known Rooney Family, owners of the Pittsburgh Steelers, and is on the Pittsburgh Steelers’ board. After receiving his undergraduate degree from Williams College, Mr. Rooney went to law school at the Florida State University College of Law. While there, he attended Officer Candidates School for the U.S. Marine Corps where he earned a commission as a Second Lieutenant. He graduated with honors and was admitted to the bar in several states. Following completion of the Basic Officer’s Course and the Naval Justice School in 2000, Mr. Rooney was assigned to the Joint Law Center, Marine Corps Air Station in Yuma, Arizona.
In 2010 Mr. Rooney was appointed by Michigan Governor Rick Snyder to help reform welfare in the state, and most recently became the director of Fraud and Recoupment for the Michigan Department of Human Services (DHS). He is on the National Advisory Board for the University of Michigan C.S. Mott Congenital Heart Center and is a member of the Children’s Trust Fund Board.
