Developing Medical Leaders

Vanisha Yarbrough

After receiving a bachelor’s degree in molecular and cellular biology with a minor in health policy from Harvard, Vanisha Yarbrough could have gone to medical school anywhere. Thanks to a donor-funded scholarship, she chose Michigan. She has served as co-president of the Black Medical Student Association, has co-chaired a diversity and disparities weekend for the Medical School, and has organized health fairs offering diabetes and glaucoma screenings. Yarbrough, who will also complete a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at U-M, is a shining example of the caliber of student our donor-funded scholarships attract.
